This could be caused by a loose cable, or a bad optical drive. It can be ejected by either correcting the wires or by taking the optical drive apart and getting the disk.
Use paperclip to push release on front of tray.
Tucker - your probable causes are correct. Taking apart the drive is what we would call the big hammer approach. Try Alex's suggestion first.
