Coursera Class

Coursera.org is offering a class called Crafting an Effective Writer:  Tools of the Trade

The session starts 2/7/2014.  If you take this course, I will give you credit under the 'Self Motivated Learner' Standard.  Grades will be based on the end of chapter quizzes and the final test.

You may feel that writing should not be part of computer class, but effective writing is a critical skill in any career.

• It takes a group of inter-related protocols to perform a communication function.  Known as a Protocol Suite
• Think of it as a layered stack.  Higher levels are concerned with the content of the data and depend on the functionality of the lower levels. The lower levels are concerned with moving data across the network and providing service to the higher levels.

• How a message is formatted or structured
• The process by which networking devices share information
• How and when error and system messages are passed between devices
• The setup and termination of data transfer sessions
